What is a good CPM for a clipping campaign?

At the payout level, $1-3 per 1,000 verified views is the standard clipper rate. At the campaign level, a good effective CPM (total spend divided by total views) is $1.25-6, falling as budgets scale and the page network compounds. Anything under $1 effective CPM means the owned network is doing heavy organic lifting.

The three CPMs people mix up

Clipper payout CPM is what amplification costs per verified view. Campaign effective CPM includes the monthly fee. Paid-social CPM, around $8.20 on Meta in the US (Gupta Media, Oct 2025), buys impressions, not verified views, and an impression only needs half the pixels on screen for one second to count. Compare like with like: a $2 verified-view CPM is not 4x better than paid social, it's more, because the view standard is stricter.

Real campaign numbers

From Media First campaigns: a travel network reached 200M+ views on roughly $4K of spend, an effective $0.02 CPM after the network compounded. A music campaign hit 5M views on $1.5K ($0.30). Early months run higher; the falling curve is the point. Judge a campaign on its 90-day effective CPM, not its first invoice.
